2 Female Doctors Attacked With Stones While Screening COVID-19 Patients In Indore

Doctors and healthcare workers are working around the clock in their fight against the coronavirus. As the death toll in India reaches 50, us as responsible citizens need to practice social-distancing and respect those who are in the medical field. However, there have been cases of attacks on medical professionals amidst the pandemic.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, residents of a locality in Indore pelted stones at healthcare workers who went there to screen people for coronavirus symptoms. Due to the attack, two female doctors have been injured.

The Health Department officials revealed that the incident took place at Tatpatti Bakhal in Indore. The workers had arrived in protective suits to take a woman to the hospital for a medical examination as she had come in contact with a COVID-19 positive patient. It was then when people of the neighbourhood started pelting stones at them.

In a video that has been going viral on the internet, people can be seen gathering in a crowd to attack and pelt stones at the 2 healthcare workers, causing them to flee the spot.

One of the female doctors who was attacked spoke about the incident on a video. She claimed that it would have been difficult for them to survive if the police had not intervened. Have a look at the video here:

This isn’t the only case of violence against healthcare workers amidst the pandemic. In another shocking incident, doctors at Hyderabad’s Gandhi Hospital were allegedly attacked after a 49-year-old patient with “multiple illnesses” died of coronavirus, reports NDTV.

It is utterly shameful how people are attacking the ones trying to save our lives!
