While exercise and healthy eating will certainly help you get in shape, there are other, more unusual ways to burn calories. Most of them don’t take long, and when done regularly, they help you stay in shape without spending hours in the gym.
We were curious to find out that there are some easy and “lazy” ways to burn calories, and some of them are just as effective as exercising.
Easy Ways to Burn Extra Calories Every Day
Taking Hot Showers
A hot bath is a great way to relax at night and get rid of stress. But it turns out that spending up to an hour in a shower or hot tub can also shed extra pounds.
When you’re taking a hot shower, your body has to work harder to maintain a normal temperature, which in turn helps you burn more calories.
Studies have shown that taking a hot bath or shower for an hour can burn 130 calories and can be a good weight loss strategy.
Drinking Cold Water
Staying hydrated is absolutely crucial to your overall health and well-being, but the way you drink water can increase your calorie burn.
If you prefer room temperature or warm water, adding a few ice cubes can really help you lose a few pounds. When you drink cold water, your body needs to warm it to body temperature, which temporarily stimulates your metabolism.

If you have ever felt that the same smell of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies can cause you to gain weight, you will be relieved to find that certain smells can contribute to weight loss.
The researchers found that overweight people who wore vanilla-scented skin patches had less craving for sweets.
If you don’t like the idea of wearing a patch, opt for a vanilla scented perfume that will leave you smelling delicious and as a bonus, it can suppress your appetite.

Washing the floors and washing dishes can be irritating, but little household activities can really add up and help you lose weight and keep your home perfectly clean.
Spending an hour washing and drying a sink full of dishes can help you burn 100 calories, and scrubbing the bathroom for 35 minutes burns as many calories as a 35-minute walk on the treadmill.

Green tea is rich in antioxidants, and in addition to making your skin look younger, it can also effectively burn calories. Because it contains caffeine and catechins, it can increase metabolism and help the body break down fat more easily.
But just one cup of green tea a day is not enough, studies have shown that you need 3 to 5 cups a day to see results.

As it gets colder outside we naturally want to turn on the heater, but keeping the environment cool can really help you lose weight.
Like taking a sip of cold water, being in a cool room can have calorie-burning benefits. Studies have shown that exposure to low temperatures can cause the burning of calories and contribute to weight loss.
Have you ever heard of any of these ways to burn calories? Do you have secrets to help you get in shape?
