We know what it means in theory – avoiding crowds and public transport, staying at home, keeping a 6 feet distance from others, working from home, meeting friends virtually, etc. But in practical terms, it is so much more than that. It means maintaining a gap of 1-2 meters while standing in a queue and celebrating milestones like engagements and anniversaries through the window.
Mirror UK reports that the elderly man lives in close proximity to his son and can’t wait to hold his grandson once the crisis has passed. According to CNN, people over 60 years of age are at a higher risk of contracting COVID-19 and have been advised to self-isolate themselves.
It sure is heartening to see everyone following quarantine rules and communicating through video calls even if it breaks their hearts as our collective efforts are the only way to flatten the coronavirus curve.
