How Often You Should Wash Different Body Parts, According to Science

You may be thinking that showering regularly is one of the best things you can do for your overall health, but showering every day isn’t necessary for most people. In fact, only some parts of your body benefit from daily washing, while others can only be cleaned a few times a week.

We’ve done some digging to find out why it’s best not to wash every part of your body on a daily basis.

While nothing compares to the feel of freshly washed hair, not all hair types need daily washing. Only people with fine and delicate hair can benefit from daily washes as it tends to get greasy much faster.

But if your hair is curly or textured, you can easily wash it every two weeks.

Your Armpits

While sweating is absolutely normal and we all have smelly armpits at times, no one wants unpleasant body odors to affect their social life. Washing your armpits daily and applying a little deodorant is usually enough to keep this problem under control.

Your Feet

Many people think that their feet will be clean with soap and water in the shower, but in reality, it is not enough to avoid irritating cracks and sweats.

To keep your feet healthy, wash and scrub them once a day with warm, soapy water to prevent irritation and calluses.

While a hot bath can help you relax after a long day, you don’t need to shower every day, and it can even irritate your skin. Hot water and strong soaps strip the skin of its natural oils, causing it to dry much faster. For most people, bathing just two or three times a week is enough to stay clean.

Your Tongue

While brushing your teeth properly and taking care of your gums are essential steps for a perfect smile, cleaning your tongue is also crucial to keep your breath fresh for longer.

Your tongue has lots of little grooves that can hide bacteria, and scraping it daily after brushing can help get rid of bad breath.

How often do you shower? Do you think it is necessary to shower every day?
