Congratulations! We have survived a week of the complete lockdown imposed by the Central government to curb the spread of the coronavirus. And participating in social media trends is what is keeping many of us going.
Lately, you may have come across pictures and videos of people whipping and drinking a strange looking coffee called ‘Dalgona’. I don’t know who started it, but it has definitely become a HUGE trend!

According to a report by India Today, people online have been participating in the Dalgona Coffee trend. All you need to do is take equal measures of coffee and sugar, add some hot water, and whip it till it has soft peaks or a whipped cream-like consistency. Then add some cold milk into a glass, scoop some whipped coffee, and place it over the milk.
Have a look at some of the gorgeous looking Dalgona coffee people have been posting online:

However, desi people took to Twitter to write about how they have been whipping coffee all their life!
I've been phetoing coffee with a spoon to make foam since bachpan, I just didn't know it's called dalgona coffee.

Kept hearing online chatter about #dalgonacoffee. Finally looked it up and fam, we've been doing this since 1992. Ricoffy and sugar, beaten to a froth, then add boiling water and milk. Come on now. This is how my 76 year old dad makes me coffee when I go home for the holidays. 🙄

I'm impressed with how the age old humble beaten up coffee, the only acceptable way of drinking instant coffee, is suddenly trending as #dalgonacoffee ! Mum & dad will finally have a fancy name for their ages old favourite! 😂

I've seen more #dalgonacoffee online in the last one week than all the coffee I've had in a month.
